At EU level, the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is central to infrastructure projects, funding initiatives in the fields of transport, energy and digital infrastructure; there are also other EU and national instruments. Such projects are often large-scale, long-term and involve relatively complex approval and coordination processes. Funding for infrastructure projects is a core focus of The Funding Team, which, for example, supported the expansion of one of Europe’s key ports with a wide-ranging EU funding strategy – under which four specific projects were applied for and approved – and also facilitated the roll-out of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across 10 Member States.
