Applying for EU funding generally involves four steps: identifying the appropriate programme and call for proposals; where necessary, setting up a (often cross-border) consortium; submitting the formal application within the deadline; and – once approved – providing ongoing reports on the use of funds and project progress. EU applications are formally demanding and are assessed on a competitive basis, which is why a precise alignment with the funding objective and a well-structured application are decisive for success or rejection.
